If you're willing to forego ADO/ODBC, there are third-party add-on packagers such as CodeBase that will let you manipulate FoxPro data files in VB; I've used CodeBase under VC++ and VB in situations where there were strong arguments against the use of DAO in the past, but you're tied to using the CodeBase package, and it is not free.
