I just "upgraded" a client's system from single user to network (fox2.6). This in itself is no big deal - I probably have 100 clients on the networked version. These guys are experiencing wierdness though which I haven't seen before. Very sporadically, their systems "freeze" while loading my exe (stand alone extended). The freeze seems to be happening while loading Fox, as it usually happens before my routines start to execute (though sometimes it freezes during my splash screen).

The network seems to be fine - their IT guy has been running diagnostic after diagnostic, and as far as I can see, it is running well and very fast. Interestingly, this problem is not easily reproducable - it's very sporadic. Some machines will run fine one hour, then have the problem the next, while other machines are running fine.

I'm currently playing around with config.fp settings, trying to move all disk accesses to the local drives.

I also changed the config.sys settings to files=99 (was 50).

Anyone have any ideas about this? Any things in config.fp I can tweak that will enhance performance? What about config.sys? What about ideas on how to replicate the problem? Any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

David
