Fair call.
I do index views occasionally, and than it's usually with more than one tag. Most often, this is so I can sort grids in response to a header click.
Philosophically < g >, I think that re-using the cursor and creating a structural index is the way to go (if you need indexed cursors at all). Less cleaning up to worry about afterwards than Ed's table suggestion.
