Yep. One thing that I have not disclosed which may shed more light on the situation. If I am in the development environment and attempt to print a doc to this printer I have the same problem - SOMETIMES. In that case it gives me the 'printer not ready' or 'printer not found' errors. This is not consistent. I was able to remove all the printer drivers from my machine except 1 dot matrix and this ink jet and then it did print from the program and that is why I think it is some kind of a timing problem.

Is there any way to control the length of time VFP will wait for a response from the printer??
