Hey Rich. I am sure you will get loads of responses one way or the other, and I have seen some postings on the VFP side already pointing you to web sites, etc. In my own opinion, it's a complicated decision that will probably have as much to do with current staff skills, and so on, as it will technology. I guess what I am saying is that you shouldn't rely solely on the technical answer -- which one is "better" -- but also take into account current skills, future staffing, etc.

Of course, there's nothing to say that you *have* to stick with one tool. You could use VB as the primary tool and then use VFP DLLs for certain processes where VFP would be quicker. And vice-versa. That creates a potential support issue, in that programmers may need to be somewhat well-versed in both languages. (This is not unlike the issue of using middle-layer VB code and also using stored procedures....)

Good luck. As you digest information, feel free to post, or send me a private message, if I can help you think it through. I have worked in both technologies pretty extensively.
