There is no one answer to this. Both tools have their place. Any company that limits platforms to developers is sacrificing power and flexibility. A book could be written about why to use what and it still wouldn't provide a solid answer.
There are times artists use oils and other times acrylics (and other times watercolors). Tell the artist that he can only use oils and the work suffers.
