I have a txt field on a form that is blank after I APPEND BLANK with buffering enabled. In the course of events, a particular save transaction fails and I want to set the VALUE of this object back to a blank state. It is a numeric field, so setting the VALUE = "" just produced a 0 on the refresh. How can I accomplish this ?

One additional question. If I am setting at the command window with a browse window open and issue an APPEND BLANK ( w/ buffering on ), is there a way to programmatically change the field values since no object exists ? Obviously, we're not dealing with m.xxx variables that a SCATTER MEMVAR would create. What are we dealing with exactly ??
