Thanks for the idea. Actually, that was my starting point as I began to whittle things down to where I wanted to be - a form that appeared, no flash, an SDI form and with focus.
I'm pretty close and can live with the current behavior but I have to say it really gripes me that something like this can chew up so much time....

>I guess you could try leaving the _screen visible and see what exactly does have focus. You could also check _screen.activeform.
