INTL and currency question
Not sure if this is an issue or not at this point but i thought i'd ask it anyway... and have not seen INTL but interested....
How does INTL address currency changes over time or does it have just a single currency conversion value per currency? My concern is i dont want "cost" values in an "orders" database to change for historical information. If a customer paid 50 pounds for an item back in january and then, after making INTL currency setting changes later, how do i display the price they paid, not the latest "converted" amount?
Suppose i ALREADY have the following orders entered:
Item US $ Pounds OrderDate
-------- ----- ------ ---------
Heineken 24.00 24.48 Jan 1
SamAdams 20.00 20.40 Aug 1
Currencies (Jan-Aug):
---------------------
US : 1.00
Pounds: 1.02
Now, on Sept 1, i change the 'Pounds' exchange rate to 1.06:
Currencies (Sept->):
--------------------
US : 1.00
Pounds: 1.06
If i then were to look at the 2nd order for SamAdams, would the price be 21.20 (the U.S. price times latest currency for Pounds)?
Is this something my app has to address? Does INTL help? Offbase?
TIA
