Just make sure you say your prayers each night thaqt noone evers says, "Oh by the way Robert we just bought some new printers today and they are not HPs." The approach you are taking is going to be married to the HP PCL language and will never work on any printer but an HP.

To get the codes you need you need to refer to the HP printer documentation for the PCL codes.
