>>My thoughts here covered a couple of other areas. First, the fact the _mfi_pgset works (with repors or otherwise) isn't documented. This might change, but I don't know that and neither does anyone else not with the Fox team. Second, because of its nature, ideally you'd want this only available when a report is being edited. Naturally, you can't use SYS(1500) unless the bar has been defined. This wasn't a problem in earlier versions of FoxPro, since the dialog was called from elsewheres.

Sure it's documented. It's (MODIFY REPORT) not listed in the unavailable or ignored commands in Chapter 25 of the Developers' Guide. If we couldn't use it, it would be in there.

>As for the availability. I'm not sure I want this behaviour. An awfull lot of menubars in for example MS office are 'context sensitive'. If you open word, close the blank document, you'll find that the page setup menubar is still there, but is disabled. Personally, I'm not that fond of menubars that appear and disappear in a certain context. When all possible menubars are visible no matter in what state your application is in, it will give a beginning user a clue, what is in the system. When using menus (or menubars) which show up under certain conditions it is a lot harder to discover all possibilities.

To an extent, I agree. However, Page Setup and Printer Setup, while not synonomous, are extremely close. Giving the user the ability to direct their output to another device is commonplace. Further, by placing the Page/Printer Setup on the File menu, one almost equates File with Output and where it's directed. I have no problem with placing a Printer Setup option under the file menu. Problem is that if I do, I potentially can confuse the user in regards to the difference. If, however, the Fox team added Page Setup to the Report menu that appears when MODIFY REPORT is issue, there is no such confusion or potential confusion. Since I (we) can't modify that menu, View becomes a secondary choice.
