Just in case either of you or anyone else feels like dealing with this brain teaser:

If I change the column to be a CHAR(2) datatype and check the length (of the 2 char field) after the SELECT INTO variable, it reports that the length is 4000. If I change it back to varchar2(2) Oracle reports a length of 2 but I get the source code plus garbage on the VfP end.

I just don't get it.
