>I was unexpectly assigned to teach programming course in VC++. With 5 days left untill the course starts, I am up against the wall for time to get a cirriculum and lecture ready. We will be using Samm's teach yourself VC++ in 21 days as a text. Any pointers to lecture notes, quizes, course outlines etc will be greatly appreciated.

The first thing I would say is OUCH !!!

Work through the book yourself before the class, and be prepared to deviate from the text, because I will guarantee from personal experience that the student's will deviate from it.

Make sure that you know where any typos are ahead of time. I haven't worked through that book, so I don't have any intel where you will find any. Also make sure the examples work as advertised and that you understand them.

When I'm teaching software development, there is one exercise that is never covered in any text. I give the students sample code without any comments, and make them comment the code. They can do it in groups, and work together to get the code commented.

Also, make sure you cover naming conventions and their use and importance.

Since you are under the gun to get this class ready, you are also probably on a deadline to finish it. Make sure you cover the meaning behind the exercises and lecture material, not just make the students parrot the code in the book.

Just my 2 krupplenicks worth.
