Why is it such a problem that the people who are always in the room to have ChanOP? Never once have we abused any such "power". In fact, we have never kicked anyone, banned anyone, or even prevented them from talking. Yes, occaisionally people who flooded the channel were automatically kicked, but we restored their rights immediately and turn that feature off. We even setup scripts so that Evan and Michel were automatically Opped upon connection.
And the fact that you can now only connect with the Java client just plain sucks. That java interface is terrible. Yeah, it's cute, and fine for people who really don't know what IRC is, but let's face it, if the UT Chat is meant to actually be a source of discussion, the Java interface can't cut it.

So would anyone like to fill us in on what is going on?
