>>>Get used to it. VFP is the Rodney Dangerfield of the programming world. VFP does not get respect. And, it will never get respect in the future.

>Why not?

Hey Trey. I agree with John's statement, maybe not as a matter of fact, but of high probability. That doesn't mean that VFP *shouldn't* have respect, but is it too late? In other words, has there been any other programming technology that went through six years of declining respect, and then suddenly bounced back? Programming is a field where people (i.e., those people signing checks and okaying projects) tend to prefer either the big and business-stable, or the brand-new and fringe. It feels as if once a language has been perceived as "fringe" for a few years, it has lost a certain window of opportunity.

Anyway, it's not a rhetorical question -- I can't think of an answer, but maybe somone else can. Has there been another prgoramming product that went through six years of declining respect, and ended up bouncing back, in terms of widespread respect?

(BTW, see you tomorrow)
The whole problem with the world is that fools and fanatics are always so certain of themselves, but wiser people so full of doubts. - Bertrand Russell
