Yes, I was there from 1974 to 1990, and knew just about everyone. I ran the Calibration, Metrology, and Envirnomental Laboratories and we also took care of computers (Mac and PC) for the Corporation along with 32 networks.

Ampex was sold three times in nine years and the head count went from 16,000+ to 600. One must be able to pay off debt and that is what selling a company does - cause debt. One of the first losses was to drop the entire Audio Division - the Division that started the company.

Ampex was/is famous for inventing everything important to video and not being able to build it so it works.
