Some of the projects I have worked on...

The SSI Group - Medical Billing Software --> Installed at over 1000 hospitals and other medical facilities to help process patients bills

The SSI Group - Medical Billing Clearinghouse --> Processes $Billions per year in medical claims.

The SSINet - Intranet site built using VFP6 as a middle tier object that produces reports from several backend database systems and presents the information to service personnel in XML format displayed in a browser. Several other functions were automated with this system.

ICAMS - Insurance Claims And Accounting Management System --> Workers' Compensation package - Complete policy processing, claim processing, accounting, etc.

LifeTrac - 911 for Paramedics - Routes paramedics that work in the field for Stroke victims, and trauma patients. It's been running in Birmingham, Al for over 2 years. The mortality rate of trauma patients has dropped 35% since introduced, and the number of days stay in Intensive care has dropped from 15 to 10 days.

The reasons VFP/FP were used... the majority of these systems need heavy duty database processing without the cost of a large data server. The only logical choice is FoxPro. OTOH, the systems can also use a database backend when VFP can't handle the demand - but it's hard to hit that threshold.
