>I'll give it a try and see how the side by side stuff works.. It's just annoying that M$ changes their stuff, doesn't tell anyone, and we have to figure out ways to work around their mistakes/"features". The same code works fine on NT 4 as well. Sorry if I seem irritated, but I am.. ; )

No need to apologize. It's perfectly understandable.

Well, remember that this was a pure SWAG on my part. Hopefully, someone more authoritative than I can jump in here and clarify this for you. I have no idea what SP1 did. In fact, I haven't even run Win2K in anything other than a beta, so take what I wrote with a large grain of salt. It may or may not be the direction that you should be taking. The one thing I can tell you is that Win2K is very particular and protective of what it will allow you to do in the system directory. So it may be that it's gotten more so, I don't know for sure.

There is an upside to this behavior, BTW. The whole purpose of it being so protective and the side-by-side bit was to end "DLL Hell", which is something I think most of us have been bitten by at one time or another.
