No, not always. If you use the form designer to create a form, the dataenvironment (DE) is added "automatically". But if you use
oForm = CREATEOBJECT('form')
to build the form , it has no DE, unless you add it yourself. So this code line my be quite useful, because it checks the existence of the DE in a way that won't give an error if there is no DE present.
