>I have a cable modem that assigns IP addresses through DHCP. I also have a home network with three computers, one running Windows ME and two running Win 2000 Prof. Is there any way I can set them to use DHCP for externel i.e. internet applications and specify a seperate IP address for local network use?

I don't know about WindowsME, but if you really want, you can assign aliases (kinda like virual hosts) to the Win2k machines. But in reality, they are still using the same interface to connect to each other no matter what. The only benefit I see of doing that is for testing purposes for servers. If you use a 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x the machines know the host is local.
