If you are having trouble with aging applications and can not find the critical support that you need... give us a call.... we believe we can help.
>

Except that they targeted Fox applications. It does little good to be too generic in your message. You have to put some sort of hook in the message.

>No mention of a specific product... no chance of offence.

Offense? Again, why do folks like yourself get personally offended here? It makes zero sense?

>Even the man who wrote the letter admits that if his shop ever got a "marketing" peice even slightly critical of Lotus that he would "have to wear a flack jacket" He understands and applauds product loyality. What can't you?
>

Please. That at best was an olive branch. Did the guy every apoligize? No. WHy? because there was nothing to apoligize for. I understand and applaud product loyalty too. So what? Still, the guy has a service of migrating old Fox apps to SQL Server. Do you think the guy all of a sudden has come to the realization -"Gee, I guess we hurt the feelings of some Fox folks. We should not pursue this line of business.." Why on Earth should you or anybody else care about somebody else's business? Why is it your's or anybody elses business to dictate how this guy can communicate what his products and services are. Are folks like you going to get continually upset everytime Fox in your opinion get's "slighted"?

Give me a break...

>Your talking out of both sides of your mouth John. You originaly wrote to me that the letter was for non technical people. So my response was to that issue. You are now raising others and your logic is circular and flawed.
>

I thought at first managers where getting this letter. My logic being circular and flawed, I don't think so.

>
It is perfectly understandable for a developer to feal threatened by a large shop directly trying to cut into their support of legacy applications.
>

Darwins Law... Enough said..

>
Hummm... so you would say that totally dismissing Fox as a possible option in upgrading an older Fox application is having an OPEN mind? You would say that leading a client to spend a lot of extra money on SQL-Server when it might not be necessary is having an OPEN mind?
>

No, I am not saying Fox is not a possible option. However, I am also saying that SQL is a possible option as well. The client's best interest is in having all options objectively presented to him/her.
