A way to get your project working again is this.
When you get to the wrong place (there when applications should be visible under the programs section) do this.
click the scroll button so that applications shouldn't be visible anymore, or click on another tab. (You don't see anything then, but it will do this.)
Then set your computer to sleep. Directly after that wake your computer up again.
Now everything will work again.
