I would disagree, to some degree. Yes, we use SAS for heavyduty statistical data analysis such as understanding distributions in research, etc. But we use a large vfp app for statisticians & economists to carry on their daily fixed (but complex) survey sampling work, in which numerous edits and parameters flow through a chain of users. Large DBs, heavy front-end GUI, minimal record security - vfp is a good tool for this and everyone is happy with it. SAS simply is not cut out for this sort of routine DB work, much too clunky.
