Thanks Bruce,
I already told them to restore from backup. I'm trying to learn from this experience.
I tried your command, first it gave me: 'The fields in table c:\....arcust.dbf did not match the entries in the database. Would you like to delete this object or cancel the validation'. I answered delete just to see the next part, the same message appears for all 6 tables I have trouble with.
Then, I got very stange errors like this: 'Object #5186 '|' bla bla bla' and 'Object 'ÿÿÿÿÿ etc...' bla bla bla' I anwsered FIX to a few ones of these messages then I said cancel.
Obviously the database's table themselves are corrupted.
I tried to copy a good database container from another directory and this seems to work, at least I've been able to reindex all the tables except one without errors. For the remaining one, I copied an empty .CDX and reindex again (it worked). Now I have to try it the other corrupted databases.
I wonder wath can cause such a corruption, would you know?
