No, datetime type is good for this. For example, datetime() + 1 will ads 1 to the seconds. You may work well with it and ignore date part. To display such time, use ttoc() function and cut off date part by substr function.

>I am looking for a function, or maybe some code to help me calculate time only, no dates. I would like to be able to store 2 different times like 8:45 and 9:03 and figure how much time went by, or say the time is 8:55, now add 10 minutes. Would I have to store these figues in a character field?

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
