>Now, Evan, this is where your input becomes important: how do we coordinate the effort, set goals, time frames, etc.

Here are some tips that I had emailed Mike. Perhaps Cindy, Roi, David and others can jump in with other things that worked well.

Here is what we did, but you may want a different approach.

- get a core of 2-3 people to do admin tasks. Nancy led the meeting. Cindy
logged the chat and posted on the wiki. I kept the chat under control and
dug up references and links that were mentioned during the chat.
- met on a regular basis (3 times per week)
- divided up the outline from MS into a schedule for the 12-16 meetings over
1 to 1.5 month duration for each exam
- used mIrc to keep a log of the chat and posted it on the wiki
- assigned a topic for next week. we used two methods, assigning individuals
topics and also assigning everyone the topic. The people would then update
the wiki with references and information about the topic
- we would then review and find out what we didn't know
- for tough topics we would invite somone to speak (example: Craig Bernston
about MTS)
- you guys should be able to tweak the existing wiki topics for your study
group
- it is a good idea to post a thread in the conference section about what
topics you will be covering that evening
- try to pick a time that is good for east and west coast ( we did 5PM PT/
8PM ET I think)
- don't count on people showing up from session to session. If you assign
something assume they will stand you up and prepare something

I can help you by advertising the wiki study sessions on the main UT page
and being a sounding board for what worked in the past. For the VFP groups
we had between 10-30 people per night. When I did a VB study group only 2-3
people showed per night. Your mileage may vary.
