It would probably be easier to create an ATL DLL using the Workspace wizard and plumb the DLL functions back in.

You can create invoke the wizard and create the workspace by selecting File->New then select ATL COM Appwizard from the Projects tab. Once you have done this you select Insert->New ATL Object from the main menu to start defining your interfaces etc.
