John is right on here. Updating with record sets is easy, but not the best way to do things. To put things in a Fox perspective, think of the difference between remote views and SQL Pass Through. Now you get the idea between updating with a RS or using the Command object.

For the record, I have read from many sources that you will get much better control and scalability if you don't update from an RS. You need to call a Stored Procedure via the Command object.
