I want to bring data into Excel97 via MSQuery from a VFP6 application that uses free tables in multiple directories.

The ODBC drivers for VFP6 seem to be essentially non-functional. I am using the most recent MDAC 2.5, and have had the same problems with earlier versions, too. I cannot access files in more than one directory - there is no way to change directories. If the tables are in a dbc, there is no problem - my problem is that they are free tables.

Second, even for the tables in the same directory, I cannot do outer joins. In the join dialog box, only the inner join is available - the other two are grayed out.

This is driving me crazy, or am I just slow? Everything worked fine when the application was in FP2.6 format.

Environment: Files on NT4 SP5 server, clients are Win98SE with 128 to 256 mg of memeory, Excel 97 SR2, VFP6 SP3, more recent downloads of MDACs, including 2.1 and 2.5. Identical problems in all variations of environment.

Thanx,

Rick
