Win2K server includes something called ICS - Internet Connection Sharing, which can provide both traditional Proxy Services, and NAT (Network Address Translation) for your network; there's a simple Wizard to configure it, and it's added through the Configure My Server administration tool; it's brain-dead simple if your ISP will permit either the proxy or NAT functionality. Some soft internet adapters such as EnterNet 300prevent these services; I've used WinGate Pro from deerfield.com as a gateway server, and like it a lot - it also delivers extra capabiliuties such as an optionalfirewall and support for handling multiple subnets, support for services under non-Windows platforms, a wide range of proxies and control and auditing of various services and protocols on user, group membership, system identity, and operation times. Configuration can be nearly automatic for home and typicial small office uses, and the WinGate server need not be an NT Server or Win2K server; a Celeron 333 with 64MB of RAM, Win98 and a 8GB drive (most of which is empty, and is used to cache Web pages when people in the office are doing heavy browsing) serves well as a gateway for 12 other systems through an ADSL connection with dynamic IP, and it doubles as a PCAnywhere gateway to provide remote control access for support and remote application access through the Internet, and with DNS2Go, now in beta, remote systems can find the gateway
