>When the day comes that VFP is no longer profitable, MS would be well within their right to drop the product. No company in this country is forced to keep a product that costs them money to keep. MS is not a charity, the are a for-profit concern. Further, if a company did decide to keep a product notwithstanding its profitability, then the company is acting contrary to the interests of its shareholders. First and foremost, MS is accountable to those folks.

Agreed that any company can decide to no longer sell a product that is losing money. MS sells each of the tools currently in Visual Studio seperately or bundled together. I purchased Visual Studio, not just VFP - because it was my intention to learn the other languages (specifically VB) as well. However, the vast majority of my work to date has been in VFP. How would MS be able to determine if VFP is losing or making money based on the way they bundle the software? Do they assume that everyone who purchases Visual Studio does so because they are VB or VC++ progammers?

Can't argue with that - they are seperate issues.
