Why do you have to do that? I just tested and using .selstart works fine for me. Am I missing something?
If a put the following in a button on a form
Thisform.MyEdit.SelStart = 4. Type 10 characters in the edit box, click the button, then tab back to the edit box, the cursor is in the 4th position.
