Hello,

In a 5 year-old Fox 2.6a app, I use a naming convention for file transfers that includes CHR(187) or CHR(178);

e.g. E»DC0919.zip (from 'E' to 'DC' on Sept 18)
or KM²E0919.zip (from 'KM' to 'E' on Sept 19)

This has worked flawlessly for years. Suddenly, as users move to Win 98 SE and GroupWise 5.x, the special character (CHR(187) or CHR(178)) seem to be dropped causing my app to fail to recognize the sender/recipient of the file.

I cannot identify the culprit, because the change is simultaneous and the clients are remote. They were upgraded to GW 5.x alongside the upgrade to Win98 SE. I suspect GW is to blame. Some kind of setting as to how to treat email attachments, which is how these files are transfered.

Does anybody out there know what I'm talking about ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Henry
