Since I only told it could be done, I wanted to followup on that statement and at least give you a way to get there. :)

http://www.mediarch.com/olympus/components/ and at least consider downloading a trial version of the Olympus Software ImageKnife OCX 2.2. It does support the GIF and JPG formats.
It is rumored (I have no inside knowledge at any level on this) that VFP6 will have built-in support for GIF and JPG formats to get it more in line with the demands of the Internet and where Microsoft wants all of its products to be firmly positioned.
So, you'll have to figure out if you can wait for VFP6 or, if you can't live without that image support now, you'll have to spend some money on whatever ActiveX control you end up choosing.
