Even renaming the scx files with new extensions doesn't work so its got something to do with the format itself. I think you're right, it's a VFP thing but just what I'm not sure. I'll stay in touch.

mmmm.... I am using Win98SE with the latest patches and I make six copies of a 500 MB VFP 6 application every Friday, and distribute them to the regional offices. I use the HP CD-Writer Plus, 8200 series, connected to the USB. For me, everything copies just fine. The only complaint I have is that while I am using the CD-Writer I cannot open any other application -- none, nada, zip. If I do, the CD-Writer belches an error about corrupted indexes on the CD and quites, wasting a CD. SCX files give no problem at all.
