In Windows 95 and 98, Getprinter() samples the printers installed from the Devices section of Win.ini. And, without modifying the registry or re-installing print drivers, the order of the printers listed in the array from getprinter() can be changed by changing win.ini.

Windows NT does not have win.ini. So getprinter() must be coming from the registry. Where? And can the order be manipulated without having to uninstall and re-install?

For our application, the order is important because we automatically direct output and bypass the prompt window.
