Just a quick follow-up on the functions I mentioned in my other post. While I seem to be able to get the Desktop folder reliably, some of the others either return that or blow up the computer ("DLL caused an exception"). I'm probably doing something that's stupid (no surprise there). I'll have to look more closely at my code for LNKFILES.DLL to see for sure, but it's beginning to look like the WSH is not only the easiest, but the most reliable as well.

If I find out anything else, I'll post back.
