Here is an interesting story that will affect MAC users. Essentially, they're hosed. Expect a big downturn in MAC ownership. Will they go for the new Mach "unix"-like OS? It also relates the problems working with MS. Did Billy orchestrate this pinchoff of support for prior MAC users?

You know, of course, that the Supreme Court refused to hear the DOJ case. It's heading toward an Appelate Court that has always ruled in favor of MS, so don't expect that 'judge' to change is strips. It will be months, perhaps more, before it gets to the Supreme Court, if ever. You can expect MS to behave even worse than before.

Microsoft has just threatend the NTFS kernel dev team with a lawsuit. (See the link at Slashdot.) The "Halloween Documents" plan is beginning to unfold.
Vendors will either have to cut bait for fish. Most will fish with the bait they have. Penquinestas will take notice and as the
Linux desktop market share grows (not if!), lagging vendors will be ignored

Eventually, though, MS's greed will do them in. They will price themselves out of the market. $132 / per seat for a Win2K server is just an example. Where I work it would cost about $75K to 'upgrade' to Win2K.
