I still dunno, if I had a message I needed to get to the user, I would pop it up in a MessageBox() when the opened the record. Then the user woudl have to acknowlegde the message.

I tend to agree -- it's certainly what I would prefer -- and I see John K's point about this being non-standard.... but in this case, they were concerned that the phone operators would be on for a few minutes, and forget about any modal-style warning (or audio alarm) that they had received three minutes earlier. My answer to that was a RED BOLD CAPS WARNING at the top of the form.... still not enough to them. In the end I used a timer; they were the ones writing the check after all, and I had done what I could to sway them against. I did give them a setup option to change the blink rate, including turning it off, so if they change their minds....
