No need to aplogize. We all had to start somewhere and we're all still learning at some level or another.

If I understand you correctly you are trying to create a report based on a remote view. That remote view require a parameter to be passed by the user. Is this correct? If so, I would create some type of form (or use the InputBox function l listed in the files section) to ask the user what value they would like it use. This is much more aesthetic than having FoxPro do the prompting. This would also alleviate the need for the user putting quotes around the variable. Then when you call the remote view just pass the variable you have retreived and there will be no further prompt. Am I making sense?

>Im just new to vfp and i have been trying to teach myself and read books so please bare with me if i dont make sence.
>I did make a form with a formset that had another form to it and i wasearch without any problems with the time but when i tried to make a report my director said you needed to make a report off a remote view it would not work off a form and that is how i came to use that parameter box.But i couldnt figure out how to do my own search box off of a view to do a report so that is how i got to that point. It works with the "" but for the user i thought it would be easier without them. But if i cant figure something out i will just use the "".
