I tried your suggestions. The default entry suggestion would work if I was using an Integer Combobox. However, I am using a foreign key combobox for this particular library. My fault for not being specific and using the states example. My thinking here is to work my up though the class libraries and find out what happens when a new record is added; maybe add a method or property for default value.

I had tried the Activate/Deactivate for the long name functionality before but tried again. No go. Currently I have replaced the label with a text box control tied (via ControlSource) to the view that controls the combobox and do a REFRESH when the control changes Not as efficient as the just setting a label caption but it works. While working though this situation, I noticed CLabelControlSource on the cTextBoxL with which I am going to experiement.
