Michael,

Here in Brazil we have frequently heard that Microsoft will abandon Visual FoxPro. Because this rumors many clipper developers are mainly going to DELPHI and Visual basic.

Last week we had in São Paulo city one of the biggest software events of the world (FENASOFT 97) and one friend of my heard from Microsoft Brazil people. "If you are going to choose one windows language go to Visual Basic even you are clipper developer, because visual basic market is bigger and the focus of Microsoft language"

Another point, since last October I could easy found FoxPro Advisor in bookstores, after that the magazine disappear and the people of FoxPro Advisor said me they don’t have distributor to Brazil anymore. The newspaper "Inside Visual FoxPro" (Cobb Group) stopped.

There isn’t books about Visual FoxPro translated to Portuguese, instead of Deplhi and Visual basic there are a lot.

The polemic around advertisements of Visual Studio 97 and many others.

I have worked with FoxPro since version 2.6, actually I am using version 5.0 , and many times, because these rumors, I am in doubt if my choice was correct. All my friends are working with Delphi or Visual basic. Only me are right?. It is possible the majority are wrong?. Frequently these questions and many others are concerning me.

I choose FoxPro because to me this is the natural way to Xbase programmers.

In this site I could minimize the problem with support in Microsoft products. Lack of Support is big problem in Brazil, mainly to people like me that are not in Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo.

So, I would like to thank you for this great site, and I am waiting for better news about the FoxPro future on DevCon. I am no going there but I expect to know here in Universal Thread.
