One of our new clients is installing our program, and is having a problem with slow query response.

When he sets everything up on the local loop (not going through a switch), response time is normal.

When the data is moved to a server elsewhere on the network (where he says the traffic is passing through cisco VLAN (?) switches), the response drops dramatically.

The people in charge of the network are away, and we'll have them take a closer look at network load and any other network architecture-type issues when they get back next week, since the problem seems pretty obviously related to going through the switch, or the traffic getting mixed up with the general network traffic.

But my question is this -- in the meantime, is anyone aware of specific issues with either using switches (in general, or cisco ones in particular) w/ a VFP-type application? The tech person there is not aware of any other general network issues. But our application is working with a largish database (150,000 records in this case), and some of the tables are quite fat, so I think we pass a lot of data back and forth; maybe they haven't seen anything quite like this on their network before. Although I'd think even something like copying lots of files over the network would show a real slowdown too, since VFP is doing anything _that_ weird.

I'll know more once the network guys get back, but in the meantime, any ideas will be appreciated.
