There aren't too many people talking about cross platform these days. Mostly client independence (via a browser or runtime environment). Microsoft has it right. Instead of porting your language/application/whatever to another OS, design to a common runtime environment. Java has been very successful with this very concept in the last 5 years. They came out of nowhere to be in the big three (VB/C++/Java).
Face it, Linux isn't a contender on the desktop. At best it ranks a distant 3rd behind the Mac OS. So basically we would be getting a port to a server OS. Why do this? Your users don't care what OS you are using on the server. They are justing hitting HTML pages with their browser. So why not just use VFP on NT server? We have that already.
