Hi!

To make a right choise of what to use you need to know possibilities :) For me it took ~3 years to learn all ways in VFP5 (than VFP6) until I was able to make correct solutions. What about beginners?
It looks like it is good idea to write a book of tips, tricks and solutions of what is best for VFP6. I never seen such book, except little articles dispersed over the WEB. As a result we now have a lot of questions like this posted each day here.

>Also, John-- to answer your related question -- what is LOCATE used for? I use it in two cases -- 1) searching very small tables or cursors (results sets of previous queries where I expect fewer than ten entries) and 2) for complicated search criteria -- in that case, I use SET KEY to limit the set as much as I can, then Locate within it.... .but Vlad comment on the benefits of SQL syntax as a forward looking approach are VERY relevant. The bottom lins is that, in FoxPro, there are many ways to do things..... You really need to test and think and decide based in large part on your business needs/expectations.

The professional level of programmer could be determined by level of stupidity of his/her bugs

It is not appropriate to say that question is "foolish". There could be only foolish answers. Everybody passed period of time when knows nothing about something.
