This being the first Dev-Con I've missed in several years, I would have to say my main reason was, WHO DECIDED TO HAVE A DEV-CON IN MIAMI at the height of Hurricane season. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid! :)

Specifically, I know for a fact that TCI made personal visits to the properties to ensure the quality. One of the best properties was the Scottsdale Princess. TCI either had or is having a conference now. It bears noting that TCI is *still* having conferences at establishments like this.
