>>Actually an argument could be made for porting all the VFP features which are superior to VB into VB. Then you could devote the entire VFP team plus the entire VB team to constantly improving the new VFP/VB language. The hard part in this would be to do this without ending up with a clunker that was worse than either VB or VFP. I think in adding object orientation to VB Microsoft is already taking the first step towards doing this.>

>Well, really this has been in the plans for at least the last 5 years. I've had the pleasure of attending three different "executive briefings" (don't ask how I got in) with Bill Gates in Atlanta. During those sessions they feed you a nice dinner at a real nice hotel, then he gets up and gives a dog and pony show. After that the audience, which was around 50 business men, asked him questions. These were presidents and vice-presidents of major corporations as well as a few of us developers. I asked him twice what his plans were for FoxPro. He said on both occassions that it is a part of VS and all products would eventually meld together so the developer could mix and match. I guess it's just now coming to fruition.

It's been longer than 5 years. I heard the same thing from MS just after MS and Fox Holdings merged.
