I knew that, because thats sort of what the disuccion is about. I was asking her if she was testing my sample by closing VFP 7 and opening it back up to aviod preserving the past commands.

But you say past "X"? Not all? Well, in that case, it may work differently, than I expected Tamar, so just move my code to the startup program, not the ON SHUTDOWN.
