I don't think VFP is out of date. I still think it is the coolest thing out there! Its the only tool I know that can create true data driven applications.
Its all about perceptions. The market is pushing VFP into a dark corner. Someday soon, its gonna get even harder to get contracts, and even if you can find them, its likely it won't be development work, instead it will be maintenace or more likely migration to some other tool. This is sh_t work!
I feel MS is sending us a message to start retraining. VFP is not part of their long range plan! Now, I'm starting to get questions from customers about VFP's long range viability. Telling them about how great VFP's cursor engine is not what they want to hear.
I think I can hold out with VFP for at least another year while I'm learning C# and waiting for the NET stuff.
