>>Nahh.. He should move away from VFP and to VB. At least that's the one-note I keep hearing...<<
I first heard that one when VB3 came out and a MS person took me aside and told me to shift. Lessee, it was FP2.6 for Windows at the time. We spent all of a week testing VB before deciding that its data handling was so appalling compared to FP that it simply wasn't a go'er.
We also looked at Access when it first came out, before its scaling and programming deficiencies became clear. Queries were actually *very* fast which staggered us because we "knew" that FP was just the fastest. The reason we didn't move was because we needed FP's SET NEAR facility and couldn't index on that basis in Access. Believe it or not! Those were simpler days...
IMHO FP people were arrogant +++ in those days. FP was riding high. _CUROBJ and the mighty READ command were the vital things that anybody who did forms had to know about- that stayed true till 1995 and then vanished into the mists of time. Java was an island in Indonesia. The Internet was a complicated geek-tool used by university boffins.
It shows how just a few short years can turn things on their head and things that really, really, really mattered were in hindsight little more than fireflies in the night.

"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
